Q: Can I convert a 1997 dodge ram key to a 2007 all-in-one key?
I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 and have the ghetto, old key fob. My uncle just got a Brand New '07 Ram with the all-in-one key. Can I convert my key and fob to the new all-in-one key?
A: No. Different switch and technology. You might have to change the entire steering column but I doubt that would work.
Q: Where can I find a front suspension diagram for a 1997 dodge ram 1500?
Does anybody know where i can find a free diagram online of the front end suspension for my 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 truck? I have some rubber bushings that are in very bad shape. They are very badly cracked, deteriorated, torn, and one is only half there. I'm going to replace them myself but don't know the name of each individual bushing. So, I don't know what to buy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

they have an online repair guide that's Haynes/Chilton equivalent.
sign up is free.
the library is a good source. they have access to AllproData on line. but it requires a librarian to assist you. then you can have the applicable page copied.
Q: where is the low pressure a/c port on a 1997 dodge ram?
need to refill the a/c on my 97 dodge ram and cant find the low pressure port.
i figured it out myself i think... since no one is specific at all or they give generic answers, the round canister back by the passenger firewall has an electrical connector going to it. unplug that connector and screw it out and once unscrewed you will see the valve.
A: Trace the ac line running from the compressor to the evaporator (toward the passenger seat).
Q: today i just got dual straight pipes put on my 1997 dodge ram and i have seen a lot of them on youtube and the?
today i just got dual straight pipes on my 1997 dodge ram 1500 318 and i have seen videos on youtube and there a lot louder than mine and they have the same thing as mine why are they louder?
A: People can say anything on you tube and they don't have to prove it's true.
Maybe they have a 360 or larger rather than a 318, maybe they have headers, maybe their exhaust system uses larger diameter pipes than yours, maybe theirs actually exhausts under the truck rather than under the bumper,
Loud does not mean more power, it's just loud and the smaller the engine the less noise it makes, just listen to the four cylinders with the coffee can exhausts, very raspy. I'm not putting the fast & furious crowd down because they don't have much to work with and I've seen a few of them that run pretty good.
Don't believe everything you hear on you tube.
Let me tell you about loud, between Viet Nam, 35 years of industrial work, hunting with guns, chainsaws, loud music, and working on and racing big blocks with open headers, I have an 80% hearing loss in one ear and a 40% loss in the other. I cannot hear some bird songs, spring "peepers" or carry on a conversation in a room with a lot of background noise. Today I use full cover ear protection when I mow the lawn to protect what hearing I have left.
I have no one to blame for my hearing loss but myself.
Q: 1997 Dodge ram 1500 keeps wants to stall when I come to stop?
Also I had the water pumped changed last Nov. Truck still will overheat and I have noticed some fluid under the engine.
A: you may have a freeze plug leaking some on it causing it to leak like that and the stalling part could be from a bad fuel pump or it may just need a good tune up done on it,or the lock up converter solenoid may be sticking sometimes on it,if you,ll have a scan done on it you may get an answer to why its doing this, the over heating part can be the engine needs flushed out real good on it,good luck.
Q: 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 that has no working tail lights?
I have no tail lights. My turn signals work and brake lights work too.I checked the fuse box,but there's no fuse marked tail lights.Any suggestions? Thanks
I have checked the fillaments on both tail lights and the fuses too. They are ok.The owners manual does not cover this problem anywhere. All my electrical accessories are working properly.I have brake lights, head lights and back-up lights too,but no tail lights.I'm stumped!
A: Get out your owners manual and look up fuses. It has a better description of what all is protected by each fuse>
Q: how much does it cost to replace tire rod for a 1997 dodge ram 1500 van?
im planning to buy this vehicle from someone, and he said that the van needs a new tire rod to improve the steering. but i would like to know how much it'll be to get it replaced.
A: Couple hundred bucks max. But call around to your local auto repair shops to get quotes.
Q: How do you fix a door that has been sprung on a 1997 dodge Ram?
My drivers side door got caught in the wind the other night and now it hits the front fender and does not close totally. I have a cold breeze coming in and would like to know how to fix
A: try removing the door from the hinges and tap lightly in on where the hinges are located at to seat them back in place the reset the door and re-align it,and it should seal back up again, also be make sure it didn't warp the part of the door that the outer hinges bolt to,if it did you can also lightly tap that back in also, good luck on it,that's the only way you,ll get it right again.
Q: How do you start a 1997 dodge ram?
A: if its a diesel you wait a few seconds then turn the key,if its standard shift mash the clutch pedal in ,automatic just turn the key, really simple, good luck.
Q: 1997 dodge ram wont run after replacing starter and fuel pump?
My fuel pump went out going down the interstate. The housing on the starter broke. I replaced both of them and now I'm getting no power to the coil. I have checked all of the fuses and they are all good. I was wondering if there was any kind of shutoff or anything like that. Any info please?
A: there's an asd relay but i doubt that being it,start checking connections on it,id bet something got knocked loose that's causing it to not get power to the coil, run a scan on the computer, even though it wont start and run you,ll still get a trouble code for what might be causing that too happen, good luck with it.
Q: How do i put new shocks, front and back, on my 1997 dodge ram 1500 4x4, 5.2 motor?
I have alot of squeking when i take off from a stop and when i hit bumps. I have pretty much determined that it has to be shocks, but if any others suggestions please feel free to let me know what else it posssibly could be. If you know how to change them please tell me how to and if i need any special tools to get the job done.
A: sway bar is a probable cause for that one, spray wd 40 on that joint and see if it goes away. if it does replace the bushing in it. i have seen a set with grease fittings about 4 months ago.
Q: how do i get to the wires going to the gauges on a 1997 dodge ram 1500 ?
( base package with no rpm gauge ) ,
i need to get to the wires on the back of the gauges , i got the top dash off and the clear screen and black plate that goes over the instrument panel off . and i got the screws out to remove the gauge panel itself but the wires are to short im guessing . any ideas on how to get to the wires behind the gauges ?
A: you have to remove the whole dash in order to get enough of the wires out to work with them ,your getting in to a big job on that one, good luck with it.
Q: Why does my 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 truck die while I'm driving it?
When i go to start up my truck sometimes it sounds like its gonna die or not turn over, although it usually does. Also sometime while I'm driving it the check oil light will come on and it will just die! But I can just turn the key and it will fire back up again but then die if I don't keep the gas pedal held down some what... Any ideas on what might be causing this?
A: a bad sending unit will cause one to die out like that,or low oil pressure to the sending unit, try checking the oil pressure with a manual gage and also check the idle air control valve that was a major cause of that happening to one,and a bad egr valve can cause this too happen also,if you have the computer scanned on this might help you in solving this problem, good luck.
Q: i have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 318 im wanting to put a mild cam in it?
i have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 with a 318 and im wanting to put a mild comp cam in it what do i need to do the swap
A: you just need the cam and a new set of timing gears and chain in it,the rest is the same, you,ll also need a new upper end gasket kit and a timing cover set for it,other than that about one good day and you,ll have it back on the road again,on average it takes about 4-5 hours to change a cam in those trucks,if you buy a cam kit it will come with new lifters also, and that may be the right way to go on that truck, good luck with it.
