Q: 2006 Dodge ram?
how hard is it to replace a factory sterero with a new sterero? I have a dodge 2006 ram big horn edition and I want to re-place the sterero with a new one. But not sure how to remove the one it has now?
and how do i pop out the plastic around the sterero without breaking it???
A: The pastic should pop out if u put something on the sides to pull it out...what you can do is go to wal mart or checkers and get an install kit they will run about 20.00 get the one for the year of your Dodge, it will come with the connecter that will plug right in to the factory connector...then just use wire connecters to connect the wires off the other side of the factory connector that comes with the install kit to the wires of the stereo, the kit also comes with the plastic molding and brackets needed to make it fit perfect into your truck!
Q: how can i make my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi more fuel efficient?
i like my truck but would like to know how i can make it a bit more fuel efficient. i mean like material wise
A: keeping it tuned really well and staying off the gas as much as possible will help lot on gas mileage, one main thing you can do is add a K&N air ilter to it that helps it breath a lot beter and will help a slight bit on gas mileage, theres not a lot that will help them though,i have a friend who has one and he has changed exhaust on his which helped some,he can get around 22-24 on a trip but in town its still just getting around 14-16 sometimes, their real good trucks but just not that good on has, using good brand of gas all the time helps too,he only uses bp gas, good luck with it.

I have been to three different garages and they tell me they can not find aftermarket tie rods for my 2006 Dodge Ram SLT 4x4. Does anyone know where I can find these or why these garages can not find them?
A: i don't know what the problem is but advance auto parts can get those and so can auto zone, and their made by moog, which makes about the best front end parts available for those trucks,i got some a few weeks ago with no problems at all, they was in stock, good luck.
Q: How do I get my ESN number from my factory installed radio in my 2006 Dodge Ram (Sirius)?
A: You can get ahold of Sirius via the Web, and I would think that each vehicles VIN would be assigned the tuners ESN, if not Sirius will tell you the process, good luck!
Q: Are 102000 miles on a 2006 dodge ram 2500 to many?
I kelly blue book priced the the truck and did a NADA price check and the truck is under both lists retail price. I just don't want buy a used truck and something major go wrong with it. The carfax report is clean and it has only had one owner. I live in Texas and that is where the truck is from and I know extra mileage is not uncommon here due to the vastness of the state. Any advice would be helpful thanks
A: Well, 100,000 miles on ANY vehicle is a lot. I have driven through Texas many times in the past and understand the vastness of the state. This vehicle, base don the miles and the age (4 years old) MUST have been driven primarily on highways, which is a good thing. City driving acuses too much wear and tear. But off road driving causes much wear and tear, period, so watch out for vehicle sthat were used off road or going muddin'.
But still, at 100,000 miles, if the vehicle was not well maintained and was driven mostly in Texas, then it could be a bad buy. The key things to look for are:
1. Vehicle maintenance records. Did the guy use synthetic or regular oil?? Texas, like my home state of FL, is HOT and HUMID - or - HOT and DRY. Either way, your vehicle's oil breaks down much easier and if not synthetic oil, then chances are, it could have major engine wear. Also, coolant and transmission fluid maintenance (they break down under heat and the coolant stops cooling and corrodes and the transmission fluid breaks down and stops lubricating, which cause transmission failure, which costs $1,500 - $2,000 to replace). I would request to see ALL maintenance records before buying, no compromise!!!
2. Take a mechanic to inspect the vehicle. A good mechanic. You will have to pay for that inspection, but it will be worth it!
3. Ask the owner questions and get a feel for the guy. Did he used the truck off road? Farming? Find out what the use was. Ask the owner (in conversation), if he has ever been 'stumping', which means to pull stumps for fun, whcih puts enourmous strain on the transmission/drivetrain. Ask if vehicle been used for towing and see if the hitch has "scratches" on it, which is an indicator the vehicle has been used to tow a lot.
4. Rust. If it's beachside vehicle, I would watch for rust. Check under vehicle for rust (beach truck) or mud (muddin truck).
5. Check air filters, in-cabin air-filter (the A/C air filter). If these are old, dusty, or very dirty, this could be an indicator of poor maintenance.
6. Test out everything you can! Check out wipers, A/C, drive it, listen for rattles, etc (do NOT turn on radio while dirving). Check for lights working, breaks not squaling, etc. Check for the hoses to see if there are any leaks or any cracks. They can be an indicator they can bust soon and when they do, things get expensive. :(
7. If buying the car from dealer, TRY to buy an extended warranty. It could help protect you from the unexpected. If buying the vehicle privately (from a person, not a dealer), check online to see IF you can buy a warranty. This could give you additional peace of mind. :)
8. Keep in mind - if ANY vehicle has 100k+ miles, it WILL have problems on its wear and tear parts (battery, alternator, tires, breaks, etc). So keep in mind you could have a problem right away.
Finally, keep in mind that CarFax only reports accidents and ownership reports. It is NOT an indicator of vehicle maintenance.
Hope this helps! :)

Q: I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 & can't remove battery?
I've removed the positive & negative cables, but the battery seems locked in place. I can't see any bracket or screws holding it down. Any pointers?
Thanks
A: Look along the edge, all the way down to the bottom of the battery. There's a wedge shaped clamp that is usually held down with a nut that keeps the battery in place. Remove the nut and the battery should come out.
Q: where is the electrical plug under the hood for a 2006 dodge ram diesel?
its a electrical plug you use to plug the truck to an electric outlet to keep it warm in the winter, or cold my ford F250 diesel had it
A: it should be located in the front grill area on that truck if it came equipped with it, i have seen some of them that came without them but they put them in a place so that you don't have to raise or lower the hood to plug or unplug them, good luck on it,
Q: what fuse controls my wiper blades on a 2006 dodge ram 2500 diesel?
The wiper blades are not working properly. They don't want to turn on half the time. When they do work, its only intermitent. Will not work on high. Sometimes they don't even shut off. But they do work great when i use the windshield washer mode. Any help or input would be great.
I have checked the fuse box under the hood and nothing on the cover says anything about a wiper control, steering collum or anything to do with the wipers at all...and no i am not under waranty
A: Open up your hood and on the driverside should be your fuse box. Loosen up the turn knob and remove the cap of the box. In the cap you will see a diagram of your fuse box with the fuses being numbered where they sit.
Then just look down the list of fuse numbers to find your Wiper control fuse to see if it is the fuse that is shot. There are spare fuses in the box, you just have to go down the list to find which ones are spare, as well there should be a set of plastic tweezers to help remove the fuse in the fuse box.
If it's not the fuse.....book yourself an appointment at a Dodge Dealer to plug in and find any error codes in your truck. Being a 2006 I would think you still have bumper to bumper warranty "free of charge"
Q: Power window on 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 doesn't work.?
The front passenger power window on my 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 doesn't work using the passenger switch. The driver master switch raises and lowers the passenger window. This happened once before. I removed the passenger switch, replugged it in and it worked. But, it stopped working again and this trick didn't work. I tried a new switch that I bought at my dealer, but no luck with the new one, either.
Any ideas what could be going on?
Thanks
A: pull the door panel off and see if the wire on the motor has become disconnected or has gotten loose on it, that's usually the cause of that happening, and you can also run a hot wire to the motor to see if it works to rule it good or bad, good luck on it.
Q: Can I install 2008 Dodge Ram tail lights in a 2006 Dodge Ram?
A: i don't think so,the body styles changed a little for 07,you might try a set and see, most of the web sites i got don't list interchange on those for that year, good luck.
Q: 2006 Dodge Ram 5.9 Liter Cummins Torque Specs?
I Have a 2006 Dodge ram 2500 4x4 cummins turbo diseal 5.9 liter engine, with a manual transmission, i am replacing the rings in it and need to know all the torque specs. Anything helps thanks.
A: your best bet is to get a manual on it, because i looked and couldn't find anything on line that covers that truck on torque specs,if i find anything late on i,ll post it on this answer, good luck.
Q: Need help on replacing rear driveshaft u joint on 2006 Dodge Ram 2500?
There isn't any C rings holding the caps in place so not sure what IS holding them. There is what appears to be a tiny plastic rod on the top of the yoke and driveshaft right above the caps but can't imagine those hold anything in place. PLEASE HELP!
A: That plastic is an epoxy used at the factory to secure the u-joint.
When you get them apart you will see the groove machined into the yoke that allows the epoxy to flow all the way around the cap and hold it in place.
If you have a torch of some kind the easiest method is to heat the yoke until the epoxy liquidizes and oozes from the yoke then press or beat the cap out in the usual fashion. The new u-joint will come with c-clips to secure it the old fashioned way.
If you don't have any kind of torch just beat the living crap out of it. It takes longer but the epoxy will let loose with enough persistent force.
best of Luck!
Q: What is the fuel economy of a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins?
What about Ford F350 Superduty Powerstroke
A: I don't know for sure, but i would guess around 12 mpg. That is a heavy duty truck made for hauling and such,so not good mpg
Q: Do u think a 2006 dodge ram 1500 is a practical car for a teen?
It would be a first car and most likely brand new.
A: If your parents can afford to keep the vehicle fueled, insurance, etc... then i think its fine. as long as the teen isn't inapprieciative of the car, then i dont think buying a teen a NEW car is SPOILING them at all. If you abuse you lose it, is a good policy, shouldnt punish your kids by not buying them something they really want just because of how you THINK they will be irresponcible. Buying your child a nice car isnt spoiling them, when i turned 16 my mom bought me a brand new 2002 Acura RSX-s, i appreciate it, take care of it, and realize that the reason i got it isn't because im better, or am spoiled, it's because she wanted me to have a good car that would carry me through college, and give them piece of mind i wouldnt be in the middle of no where broken down. Additionally if your parents would have some utility for the truck, i.e. hauling a boat, bringing home things...etc they would be more likely consider it practical. While i do understand the negatives of whey it wouldnt be a "practical car"... gas milage, higher insurance for a truck, trucks in general arent as safe as a car (crash ratings...) etc. however if the kid has his mind set on it, the parents want the child to be happy with what he drives, they want to have peace of mind knowing he's safe, and are able to do the financials of having an additional truck then i think it should be done! You shouldnt say people who get new cars are spoiled just because you didnt.
