1967 Ford Mustang
1967 Ford Mustang questions and answers
Take a look at this great lense about the 1967 Ford Mustang.
Q: Can i install turbo on a 1967 Ford Mustang with a 200hp V8?
i am not sure if the car is set up in such a way that it enables aftermarket turbocharging/supercharging,if you know (and you are sure), please answer accordingly. thanks
A: It wouldn't be the ideal candidate for forced induction unless you add a forged bottom end and lower compression. Stock it has 9.3-1 compression which is pretty high for forced induction, especially on pump gas. It might be able to take 5psi on 92 octane if you get the timing and air/fuel ratio right, but it would be risky. With headers, a 750 carb, and a 5psi mini-blower, you might be able to get 300hp and 350 torque with the stock heads and cam.
If you want more than that, you'd need to rebuild or get an engine with a stronger bottom end and probably lower compression around 8.5-1. Lots of guys put high boost turbo and supercharger kits on stock blocks then basically wait for them to blow! You might be able to make 500hp with a stock 302 but that's no peace of mind!
Q: What is the average cost to restore a 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500?
A: This is a very hard question to answer because everything depends on: your level of restoration experience, the current condition of the vehicle, shops and supplies you use for your restoration, and what quality of restoration your looking for. The 67 is a great Mustang. Start looking through catalogs such as:
Mustang Country
14833 Lakewood Blvd
Paramount, CA 90723-4511
(562) 633-2393
You can find many more from magazines such as Mustang Monthly
http://www.mustangmonthly.com/
Set a goal. Do you want to go through a frame off restoration, or do you want to keep everything in it's original condition yet still drivable? Believe it or not, most collectors would rather see a car with scuff marks and use on the original vehicle with the original paint than a perfect restoration on a car that nobody can tell what type of torture the car was subjected to.
Q: 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe. 289 V8. Edelbrock 4bbl carb?
would a 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe. 289 V8. Edelbrock 4bbl carb be fast?
A: that 4 bbl typically would be a 600, but how fast it would be depends upon a lot more things you dont mention, cam, exhaust, tranny, stall converter, rear-end gearing, blah blah blah. If the rest is just stock stuff, not really, if fully set up, it'll scoot pretty good. Nothing NHRA quality, but it'll fight.
Q: whats the fastest most powerful motor i could put into a 1967 ford mustang and still be able to upgrade it?
it should sound beastly and upgradeable like i said
A: check out this MONSTER motor and if you have lots of $$$$ this should fill the go fast hunger nicely!!

Q: 1967 FORD MUSTANG (good or bad purchase)?
So right now I have a g35 coupe and looking to sell it and buy a new car. I found a nice 1967 Ford Mustang and everything on the car is new from the engine to the paint, truly an amazing looking car! I'm want to get it but I am not sure if I should because I don't know how reliable a classic can be?
A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carquotes.fateback.com
Q: 1967 Ford Mustang coupe on sale for $6000?
Is $6000 a good value for a 1967 Ford Mustang coupe? It has a 289 2 barrel V8, automatic tranny, power steering/brakes, it runs/drives great, body/interior are in good condition and it has flowmasters and new exhaust.
A: My first question as always is about rust. On a 67, check the floors under the carpet and under the car for rust. Also check under the carpet by the passengers feet, if it ever had a leaky heater core then some amount of rust will be there on the floor. Check out the trunk area (under the car and in the trunk) look at the METAL, if there is carpet in the trunk or a trunk mat, pull it up and look underneath. Check the frame rails for rust. Open both of the doors and look at the under side of the doors (where water would drain out) and see if there is any rust. The holes in the bottom of the doors often get clogged up with dirt/leaves, etc and do not allow the water to drain out causing the bottom of the doors to rust. The #1 area you want to check for rust is the cowl (the vented area between the windshield and the hood). Vintage mustangs were not properly protected in the cowl area. If the cowl is rusty it is a huge pain to replace the cowl. If you look at the car you can see all of the spot welds that would have to be drilled out to access the cowl, not fun. The easiest way to check if the cowl is leaky is to pour a cup of water into the cowl (between the windshield and the hood). Pour a cup on the drivers side of the cowl and see where it drains out. If the cowl is not rusted out then the water will drain out inside the fender and onto the ground. If the cowl is rusted the water will leak onto the interior floor boards (where your feet would sit if you were driving). Then pour a cup down the passenger side and check the same.
How is the paint? Be cautious if it is a "new" paint job. New paint jobs are often hiding a lot. Look closely all around the car for little bubbles in the paint (even if there is just one or two). Bubbles in the paint can mean that there is rust under that paint.
Pull the dipstick and see how the oil looks. Any seller with half a brain will have put fresh oil in it but check to make sure. Do the same with the tranny fluid. Tell the seller that you would like to take off a valve cover to see how it looks inside. Look to see if there is a lot of sludge built up on the rocker arms, push rods, and on the head itself. Take a peek at the coolant as well.
Does it have 4 wheel drum brakes? Drive at 40 or so and press the brakes like you are coming to a normal stop. While you are pressing the brakes, take your hands off the wheel. Keep your hands right next to the wheel but don't touch it while you are stopping. Does the car pull to one side while you are stopping?
If the car is a numbers matching (original engine, tranny, rear end) 67 coupe that runs good all around, has good interior, etc and all of the above things check out then I would personally pay maybe $5000 for it. If you know what you are shopping for, you can get a lot for $6000.
Q: 1967 ford mustang ??????
where can i find a cheap 1967 ford mustang? doesn't if its manual or automatic
correction: it doesn't matter if its automatic or stick shift.
A: the 67 coupe is pretty common especially with the 6 cylinder.you should be able to find one on http://ebaymotors.com or http://craigslist.org ...just do local searches...also watch the local auto traders magazines..
the fastbacks and convertibles are the hardest to find and cost three times as much..
'68's are he same car, just some grill changes, so don't rule them out..
Q: what Kind of cheap cars are there that look VERY similar to a 1967 Ford Mustang?
A: None
Q: does anybody know where i can find a 1967 ford shelby mustang to restore.?

A: Keep the car, offer the guy $1500 for the boat. I bet he won't take the price. Find out what he really wants for his boat -- that car is worth more.
I've owned a boat. It's a hole in the water that you dump money into, you'll never get it back. I was so happy the day I sold it. I've never been happy the days I've sold my Mustangs.
Keep the car....
Q: 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe Pricing?
I'm looking to buy a 1967 Mustang Coupe from a private seller. I've talked to the guy a lot and I'm really excited about getting it, however I know there are people that know a deal when they see it better than I do. And, the description.
The good:
- Brand new all leather interior
- Aftermarket Cd player and new speakers.
- Rebuilt 302 engine (used to be a 289)
- I test drove it, this thing runs like butter (that's in the good kind of drives like butter)
- Paint job had only very minor scratches and dings
The bad:
- Small amount of rust on the bumper (easily replaceable), exhaust tips and about a 4-5 inch rust spot on the passenger side body on the very bottom of the car. Nothing major or even very noticeable
- Needs all new weather stripping and trunk needs to be re-carpeted
- Brakes are original and will need a little bit of work.
I would just like some idea's on how much that should run for. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
A: I would have someone who knows "old Mustangs" who lives close by go with you. There are areas on these cars that are very prone to rust problems and unless you know where to look, can seem fine until you start restoration. Some of the areas are the cowl, frame rails, torque boxes, floor pans and lower quarter areas. I suspect the interior isn't leather either. It is most likely naugahyde. I suggest contacting a local Mustang club for help. Good luck
Q: 1967 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback?
ok so i bought a shell for a 1967 mustang mach 1 fastback... coolest car ever lol
but problem is its completely stripped nothing on it...
so i need a list of what i need to but.. the brands what kind etc(its gonna be a racing car)
1. engine
2. wheels
3. gas tanks
4. seats
5. steering wheel
6. turbo
7. nitrous
8. wings
9. hoods
everything that i would need to make my car the best ever :) oh and its gunna be gloss black with red stripes kinda the opposite of regular cherry red with black stripes :)
A: Unless you have a factory concept vehicle, there is no 1967 Mach 1 Mustang - that was introduced in 1969.
What kind of racing? Drag racing? Dirt track? High speed oval?
Most everything you'll need will depend entirely on what kind of "racing car" you intend on building.
Q: where can i buy a 1967 ford mustang?
A: I would really have to recommend Ebay. That is not an uncommon car, and there will be many listings.
The thing about ebay motors, or any site that offers cars, is the ability to check them out and make sure they do not have any serious problems, or if they have, that the price will justify making the purchase, allowing enough remainder to repair the damages.
Online sites are a gamble, but there are enough 67s out there, you should be able to find one close enough to you to make it worthwhile to take a few investigation trips to examine the auto and choose the best one.
Good luck.
Q: How much should i charge my uncles friend to detail his replica Eleanor 1967 Ford Mustang?
My uncle told me i should charge his friend alot since its a really expensive car. That he said money is not the biggest concern.
I detail cars but have never gotten an offer like this. I am a beginner and know how to detail cars etc i just dont want to bid too less, because im gonna have to be extra careful on this cool car. Its a replica of the Eleanor 1967 Ford Mustang
He is wanting a complete detail interior and exterior
I usually charge 125.00-200.00 exterior 100.00-115.00 interior
A: charge the same as usual, but give him a discount for word of mouth advertising, like cash back or a touchup after 3 referrals. thats just good business sense, btw tell him hes getting a break on the price cause of the liability of a classic car and your only doing this as a favor to your uncle, the price would be higher but blah blah, it just makes sense, be prepared to become a pro, car guys just like results and know other car guys.dont make all your money on one customer and youll eat well
Q: 1967 ford mustang accelerates to 15 mph when i shift from p to reverse or drive, could it be my transmission?
A: Get the carburetor idle speed set properly.
