Q: I have a 2001 ford ranger the ignition lokced up and wont turn?
It's not the steering wheel locked thing. I know you have turn the steering wheel to unlock the ignition. The problem is that no matter what i do it wont turn. I have a trans-miter chip in the key could this be bad. Also could a weak or dead battery cause this?
A: The transmitter key will only stop the vehicle from running, and on certain models it will not allow the ignition to turn to 'start' but will allow it to be at 'run' or 'acc.' On most vehicles you can cut an non transmitter key and start the car for about a second before the computer will automatically kill the motor.
Make sure that the transmission is all the way in park, and I would double check that the steering wheel is not locked. Once we had to jack the front end of a car up in order to unbind the steering wheel to get the ignition to turn.

Q: how do i install a new cd player in my 2001 ford ranger ?
with or without the wiring harness ? do i cut the wires that lead out from the truck and just connect the colors to the back of the aftermarket cd player, or do i need to use the wiring harness, i can't figure this out.
-i don't have the factory anymore, so cut the wires ?
A: dont cut the wires cause the harness adapter runs about 10-20 bucks and there will be alot of open wires that wont be used and you can usually find the adapters at any parts house or walmart

Im looking at lifting my 2001 ford ranger edge 1"-2" (just by adjusting the torsion bars)\
does anybody know roughly wat ill get for gas mileage after i do this?
i think the 2001 ranger edge 4.0L gets 19mpg highway

A: it'll knock it down to about 18 on the highway Unless you get a K&N air filter whichll bring it up to around 23MPG i can't reccomend one enough man
Q: 2001 ford ranger. had the tranny replaced but the clutch is sometimes spoungy and sometimes stiff as a board?
i have bled the lines several times and dont know what else to do
everything has been bled. there is no air coming out when i open the bleed valve.
A: The clutch master cylinder and lines still need to be bled. It took several times to bleed it out.

Does anyone know the color code/diagram for a 2001 Ford Ranger 2 door? I need to hook up my new stereo but I have no clue which wires go to the wires in the car because none of them are the same.
The stereo was previously bought for my 2006 Ford Mustang so I only have instructions and the wire diagram for it. Thanks in advance! :]
A: The wiring should still be the same, if you are switching it from a Ford to another Ford, however, you can go to Wal-Mart and purchase the wiring harness.
Q: 2001 Ford Ranger missing under load?
I have a 2001 Ford Ranger V6 3.0L with 81,000 miles on it. Recently it has been missing under load (acceleration). I have changed the spark plugs, ran fuel injector cleaner through it, changed the fuel filter, cleaned the MAF, and disconnected the battery to reset the computer. Nothing has worked so far. I don't think it is the spark plug wires because I cannot see the sparks at night after misting the wires. What else could it be? Thanks for you time...
A: your engine has a timing sensor at crank shaft,digital week signal or defective sensor will make engine miss and loss of power.mounted on aluminum bracket above crank shaft and below water pump.under load the sensor dials in two distributer to advance or retard timing.
Q: I have a trailer hitch step led light for my 2001 ford ranger and I need help?
I put it in the plug and the light wouldnt turn on, it would only turn on when I have my light signal for one side, and the other side wouldnt go, now after a while it all started to work, any ideas why this happens
A: make sure it is in the correct holes.... it is easy to mistakingly put it in on the right or left... there can also be a break in a wire somewhere... a unknowing move in the wire will cause it to work again... you can have the wires replaces or traced with a ohmmeter to find the break... but its probably not worth it. or just replace the wires.

Who sells a good programmer for a 2001 ford ranger 4.0 5-speed for a decent price? it already has an intake and exhaust and im looking to add some more power.. also who sells aftermarket cams for it??
