Q: 1999 Honda civic Ex vs 2004 Ford mustang?
Hi i was wondering what type of mods i would need to beat a 2004 Ford mustang thats automatic if i drove a 99 Honda civic EX 2dr. the only mods i have on atm are better spark plugs and a AEM Short ram intake. the Mustang is a V-6 and is all stock. I pretty much have probrably 130HP right now on the Civic ex. Any advice would be appreciated!

A: Get a motor swap. Do not waste any more of your money on a d16y8. The motor will not make power N/A.
Get a B18C5 or C1 swap it in and the next day you will be walking that v6 mustang. The sway should run you anywhere from 2000 to 3500. Depends on the condidtion and if you install it correctly.
Q: Exhaust on a 2004 Ford Mustang?
So i own a 2004 ford mustang v6, and im pretty interested in getting a new exhaust system. I want a deep muscle car sound. Do you guys have any suggestions on the brands and types? Im not to familiar with the different types out there. Also right now its just stock with a regular exhaust system, and i really want to get dual, would i have to change anything to the rear bumper for the other pipe?
A: Actually, i love custom exhausts. I think you should get true duals they make it sound like a gt. BUT if you put another exhaust like flowmasters or bassani, borla, mac, magnaflow, or any others, it will sound like it is a ricer!!!!!! (loud honda civic) YIKES. My friend has a 2003 v6 with true duals and it sounds almost like a gt. But if you want it to sound like a real gt, get some cams and a exhaust. Cams make the v6s sound like v8s. But dont get anything but true duals unless you want people laughing at you. :) Oh and you would probably need a new bumper (rear) for the mufflers unless you cut them short and then no one would be able to see them. But just get a mustang gt bumper. Get a 99 gt bumper, it is older so it will be cheaper, but it is the exact same as the 04 gt bumpers. And it WILL fit your car
Q: 2004 Ford Mustang IMRC problems?
I have a friend with a 2004 Ford Mustang 3.8L that has a manifold port flap/butterfly that is stuck open. What would be the best solution, besides replacing the whole manifold, to get this fixed. I personally recommended trying to force a high amount of air pressure through the manifold and also to replace the gaskets. Would this be a good idea? Im no mechanic, but I do have some knowledge of engines, so I thought this may be a good idea. Any thoughts?
A: I am guessing he is getting a code for a stuck IMRC which is turning on the check engine light.
I wouldn't suggest using compressed air to try to "free" the IMRC butterfly. But I would strongly suggest removing the upper intake before trying to repair it. The upper intake is easy to remove and it beats the bejeepers out of accidentally dropping something down into the intake system.
Most IMRC's are vacuum controlled. I would make certain none of the vacuum hoses going to it are split. They aren't always easy to see. I would also make sure none of the linkages from the Servo to the IMRC butterfly controls are bent or have fallen off. This does happen. If it all does look Kosher, I would remove the upper intake and look inside to see if the butterfly is being held open by varnish or sludge. If it is, then you can clean it up real nice and make sure it moves freely.
Q: Why my rpm is high on 2004 Ford Mustang GT?
Just installed MAC 70MM throttle body,now rpm stays high for a while after acceleration,it's slow response to get back to normal idle,another thing when I depress clutch rpm goes high.
A: You have installed a larger MAF, PCM is seeing a change in airflow at idle. Using a supported scan tool such as Ford IDS reset the KAM(keep alive memory). Your PCM has adapted the idle strategy of your old MAF after reset and a few drive cycles it will relearn with you new MAF.
Q: Where should I take my ford mustang 2004 to be repaired a ford store or a local repair shop.?

A: The dealer is going to have a VERY high price, but good quality work.
The local shops are going to have a much lower price, and the quality of work will very. If you know what needs to be replaced, I would go with the local shops, because many times people lean away from the local shops and towards the dealer, because the local shops will (I'm not saying all of them) sometimes say more is wrong with the car than what is actually wrong.
For new wheel bearings, I suggest purchasing them from http://mibearings.com and taking the new wheel bearings to a local parts store to have them installed.

I need to know the exact name of the light gray/silver paint on my 2004 mustang gt 40th anniversary convertible. I need to get the paint redone due to a keying insident and would like to know the actual name of the color used?
A: As someone who is in the auto body industry, I have to first say, the name of the color doesn't matter. Different paint brands have different names for the same color. What matters is the paint code located in the driver door jamb. Ford has a two letter paint code. i.e. TK or Y7. If you are taking it into a body shop, don't worry, they will know how to find the code and how to make it match. Always remember, in auto paint, it is the CODE that matters, not the name of the color. Good luck.

A: The PCM is located behind the passenger side kick panel. There is one 104 pin connector connected to it secured by one 10mm bolt.
