Q: Can a 96 ford explorer wheel rims be used on a 2008 ford escape?
I have a set of 235/75r15 tires and aloy rims from a 96 Ford Explorer sport. can these rims be used on a new 2008 Escape. I would like to use them for winter tires so I just change rims rather than have to get the tires changed each season.

A: No,define'ly not.I'd better suggest you get the tires changed each season,although that maybe hectic.

Q: Do I really need the Ford Protector Package on New (2008) Escape?
I live in Wisconsin and just purchased at 2008 Ford Escape. They are trying to get me to buy a Protector Package which in theory will help keep the body safer from salt, won't require waxing, will make the vehicle quieter etc.... Any thoughts? Please no Ford bashing - that decision has been made.

A: It's a dealer scam to get more money. All dealers do it and it's not a manufacture thing, it's the dealer.

Q: Can the dash around the stereo come off on a 2008 Ford Escape?
I'm looking at getting a 2008 Ford Escape and it didn't seem like the dash could pop off where the stereo is so i can put a new stereo in. I guess what I'm tryin to say is can I get a new stereo put into a 2008 Ford Escape?

A: yes you can you just need to heavily mod the dash, I am running into the same problem. I think I will just cut it and if I mess it up that badly I will just order in a new dash and try again. To fill up the holes from the previous buttons, I play on cutting that out and inserting a storage bin or cutting it out and putting in some wood trim to match the rest of the car...still undecided, but doable. I am a DIYer but u could pay some one else to try it, not sure how much that will be.

Q: Should I buy the 2008 Ford Escape or 2009 Escape?
Currently Ford is offering $2500 rebate on 2008 Ford Escape. I am waiting for the 2009 Escape that is expected to hit showrooms later this summer. Do you think Ford will still be offering that kind of rebate on the 2009. Or are they just offering that kind of rebate on the 2008 because they need to make room for the 2009's?

A: Get the 2009. Most likely, there will be a rebate, but it will not be as large. If you sell your car in around 2 or 3 Years, the 2009 will increase your resale value by some money. If you keep your car for around 10 Years, get the 2008 with the rebate. Good Luck

Q: 2008 Ford Escape noises from air conditioner?
I just bought a new 2008 Ford Escape, and whenever the air conditioner is on it makes a gurgling noise. It only gurgles when in idle, or going slow speeds. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I'd like to have an idea to go to the dealership with since they seem to be idiots and will probably tell me nothings wrong. Thanks

A: Low coolant level is the most common. Air in the cooling system. Check your coolant level........

Q: I have a 2008 ford escape limited, where can I buy an underhood insulator aside from ebay?
there's no available ford parts/ accessories in any dealership.

A: Buy a 2007 underside insulator. There shouldn't be a difference in the hood between the 2007 & 2008.

Q: 2008 Ford Escape back hatch doesn't automatically "pop" open, any suggestions?
I recently closed a blanket into the back hatch of my 2008 ford escape (oops), finally got it out but now the hatch opens but does not automatically raise itself open. Can I fix this myself and if so how? Thanks

A: I would bring it to the dealer and have it repaired under factory warranty. Just don't mention how it happened.

Q: Just bought a 2008 Ford Escape. I want to keep the nice finish; What kind of cloth & cleaner should I use?
I just want to polish it up a bit when it rains or gets superficial dust. I don't want to mark the finish. Should I use a wet fake chamois and water or anything better?

A: Use a super soft polishing cloth for dusting off, or you can try one of the Swiffer dusters. And when you wash it, dry it off with a damp REAL chamois. If you decide to wax or polish, use McGuire's NXT or Nu-Finish Auto Polish...both are excellent. Also, ALWAYS use a touchless car wash...any other will put scratches and swirl marks on the finish.

Q: Where is the ashtray at in a 2008 Ford Escape?
We just recently purchased one, and we cannot find the ashtray, can some one help?

A: unless you paid extra for it doesn't have one. they make a round one with a hinged lid that fits into one of your cup holders

Q: Where do you place jack stands on a 2008 ford escape?
Hello, I have heard that you can't place a jack and jack stands in the same places. Can anyone send a diagram of where they should go?

A: There is no actual frame, just some boxed supports that run the length of the body. On my wife's, for the rear I place the jack underneath the rear differential (it is all wheel drive, but you could do similar on the front wheel drive model), then place the jack stands at the front part of the trailing arm bracket (this is the metal arm that runs front-to-rear, is located in front of the rear tires, the stand is placed so that the arm does not touch the stand, only the bracket). On the front, I jack up one side at a time, then place the stand underneath the boxed support as far forward as possible (this would lie about as far forward as the door hinges for the front doors). I use a short piece of 2x4 board between the stand and body to distribute the weight and not cause any damage to the vehicle. You could do the same on the rear if you want; using a 2x4 between the stand and the body. The boxed part that I'm talking about is approximately 2" lower than the floor, and is about 2-3" wide.

Q: Should I undercoat my Ford Escape 2008?
I have a brand new Ford Escape 2008 and was wodering if I should apply rust protection (oil based) to the underbody. I've heard that new vehicles already have it, but, what about Ford Escapes? BTW, I live in Canada where we have a lot of snow and salt during winter. Thks!

A: I think it would be a waste (depending on the cost). You could most likely do it yourself for cheaper... Besides the underbody is all painted, so it will take a few years for anything to happen.

Q: does anyone know how to remove the steering wheel airbag of a 2008 ford escape?
The airbag is already deployed. I have removed many airbags from other vehicles before. The 08 ford escape doesn't have any bolts behind the steering wheel, that's why I can't remove it.

A: Its got to be done by a dealer. If you do this yourself it will void the warranty for sure

Q: How do I activate the sattellite radio in my new 2008 Ford Escape?
I know the car is equipped, but how do I activate it? I get the manual tomorrow, I just wanted to activate it tonight...

A: It is already activated ! Just press the button that says "SAT" Your free subscription starts as soon as the dealer reports the sale, but the "Sirius" is already there & active. BTW: I don't know why you have to wait till tomorrow for a manual...they should have given you the manual with the vehicle.....very odd.
