Q: hello everyone, I have a 1990 honda accord and its overheating. What could be the issue?
hello everyone, I have a 1990 honda accord and its overheating. I opened the hood and realized the fan wasnt spinning and the engine was hot as hell. Most likely it wasnt cool. Have enough coolant in the system. What could be the issue?

A: As you have said your fan is not working, it could be the reason for your overheating. Have it check first. Check also the following; 1. bad radiator cap 2. low level of coolant 3. coolant leak 4. air trap in the system 5. clog radiator 6. water pump not working properly 7. bad thermostat Hope this help!

Q: I have a 1990 Honda Accord, electric locks that have to be unlocked manually. I tried to unlock the doors?
with the lock button and they would not unlock. My son had to take the door panel off of the drivers door and he got it to unlock, but the button on the door didn't come all the way up. I can still lock the doors but they automatically pop back down when I try to unlock them with the key. What do you think could be wrong?

A: the part you need replaced is called the door lock acuators. it is the part where the metal rod connected to plunger goes into a little white or sometimes grey or green little motor, over time these get old and stick, try even seeing with the door panel off if the rods are bent in any way

Q: My 1990 honda accord howls in the steering column.?
I know the power steering usually will make a funny sound when low on fluid, but this is different. It sounds like a hound dog when I turn. Any ideas?

A: Not quite sure of the description of the sound but... Your "fan" belt may be worn or loose. The power steering pump is driving by one of the belts. If the belt is worn or loose, it can make noise when put under the "load" of powering the pump when you steer, particularly when the car is stopped or moving very slow. Have your belts inspected by a good mechanic. Many cars now have more than one belt; and you need to know which one drives the power steering pump.

Q: 1990 honda accord with an alternator charging my battery at 15 amps.it should be 13.Is this a bad alternator?
Is this being caused by a bad alternator?or battery? or something else? and could this mess with the computer and cause it to go into limp mode?

A: Do you mean amps or volts? If it is charging at 15volts this is slightly high as it should charge between 13.5 and 14.5 volts, and anywhere up to 80amps depending on condition of your battery. A faulty cell on the battery could cause this, and if your bat is okay have your alternator checked out by an auto-electrician. At 15 volts it won't damage your computer, but if it goes higher, there is a possibility.

Q: Does anyone have a diagram to show me where the starter relay is located on a 1990 Honda Accord?
I know the relay is under the dash on the left hand side above the kick panel, above the fuse housing. It's just that ther are about five relays there .. The car is a manual transaxle and it won't start. swicth is fine, lock and key is perfect.. all was tested volt meter ... it has to be the relay .. I ran a wire directly from pos post of battery to starter and it cranked right up. haynes book shows no diagram .. may have to run to the dealer .. any one has a diagram? thanks

A: the red wire from the battery to the relay to the starter. it should be right next to the battery or on the exterior of the fire wall ..NOT inside the car. once u have found this black cylinder with three posts coming out with wires hooked to them 1 being the red wire from the battery .. u may test it by turning the key on the crossing the posts with a heave gaged skew driver the car should turn over if it dose not then it is not your problem .. i would guess it to be the starter or the starter solenoid with is hooked to the starter meaning u still will need a starter ..

Q: how do i supe up my 1990 honda accord?
i have a 1990 honda accord ex and i want to supe it up, and i dont want to get a new engine or tranny. what parts would be the best to go with and what is every part i need? thanks

A: Aight so the first thing you want to look at is your intake. Your engine actually runs on more air then it does gasoline, I think the air fuel mixture is something around 9:1. So what you want to do is get cold air intake to make the air that enters into your engine cold so its more condensed. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AEM-COLD-AIR-INTAKE-honda-ACCORD-90-93-92-91-1990-1993_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem5630e0e0d2QQitemZ370187231442QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories When you have high amounts of air coming in then you want high amounts of air going out also, so this is where your exhaust comes into play. First off you want a header installed, then you want exhaust piping and the muffler. The brand that get is really up to you but here's what I like. http://borla.com/ Now in all honesty that right there, just the intake and exhaust will give you a really good boost in performance. But I'm sure you want more haha :) Something else would be to get it tuned at a tune shop and have a new computer put in, like hondata or ectune. http://www.hondata.com/

Q: How do I repair this "bar" or rod related to my powersteering in my 1990 Honda Accord?
It is located beneath my altenator and alters the powersteering. I do not know what the exact name for it. So, I do not want to go to a mechanic because they will rip me off and charge me $50 to put a bar back in place. The last mechanic to replace my altenator showed me what it was and put it in place for free. But he charged me $150 to replace my altenator so he ripped me off, I know. Does anyone know what this bar/rod is called and can I fix it myself without bothering my altenator? How much will it cost to repair it?

A: Not exactly sure what it's called but if you can get it off yourself you can take it with yu to the pats store and they should be able to tell you and get you a replacement

Q: Parts for a 1990 honda accord?
Does anyone know of any good sites for a 1990 Accord? I'm looking for body kits, tail lights, as well as engine mods. It has the F22 2.2L motor in it.

A: eBay has tons of car parts, accessories, etc

Q: How do you repair lug nut stud on a 1990 honda accord rear wheel?

A: Either use a small press to remove it or just hit it with a hammer and knock it out. You can buy a new one at the autoparts store. Technically you are suppose to press the new one in but you could just pull it in with the nut when you reinstall the wheel as long as you ensure you pull it all the way throujgh. Its really not a hard fix to do.

Q: 1990 Honda Accord Drivers Door stuck?
I have a 1990 Honda accord and the drivers door wont open no matter what you do. Any suggestions?

A: If the door latch has failed and you can only get in from the passenger's side then you're going to find out that the only way to get to the latch is to take the driver's seat out and then to take the door panel off from inside the car to get to the latch mechanism from inside the car. its not an easy thing to do; honda dealers will charge about $300 in labor plus the price of the latch to make your door functional again. unfortunately its not an easy thing to do. you might want to shop around at body shops to get quotes from them as their labor rate is generally much less than the mechanical labor rate at dealers or independents. Plus a lot of shops are hurting right now and they might discount their labor just to get the work. tell them your door latch is seized and that you need an estimate to replace the door latch on a door that won't open. they should be able to price the job out from that description. call around to get the best price and go with it. In the long run you'll save yourself a lot of aggrevation over trying to do it yourself. hope that helps

Q: Is it expensive to replace a bulb for a brake light on a 1990 Honda Accord Ex?

A: Not at all, the bulb is probably under $10. Go to Advanced Auto Parts or whatever auto parts store you have in your area. They have a cross reference book. The bulb should be on the shelf. Open your trunk and unscrew the bulb connector, remove the old bulb and screw in the new bulb and replace it and you are done!

Q: Have a 1990 Honda accord ex,battery light stays on panel with key out,and door closed.?
battery weak won't start car, when jumped starts easy. with car running and lights turned on they come on dim, try to accelerate it putters and lights remain dim. lights cut back off and it idles normal.could it be the alternator or the battery? or ignition switch?

A: It's virtually a certainty that you have bad diodes in your Alternator. Disconnect the Negative cable from your battery. Then remove the thick red wire from your Alternator, and wrap the end in a rag or something to make sure it doesn't touch any thing metal. Then re-connect the Negative Battery cable. If the light is no longer on, replace the Alternator.

Q: I have trouble putting My 1990 honda accord ex into first gear. the clutch is good, does the gear box need oil
I figured the clutch was going.. but it hasnt popped out at the topp when i let go it starts goin when i let the clutch go all the way at the bottom.. i think the gear box needs oil...

A: IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR SYNCHRONIZER RING IS GONE , THAT IS THE BRASS GEAR THAT ALIENS YOUR STEEL GEARS SO THEY DON'T GRIND AS YOU GO INTO GEAR OR WHEN YOU SHIFT GEARS . AS FAR AS CHANGING THE GEAR LUBE . GOES , DO IT EVERY 50,000 MILES . IT'S GEAR LUBE NOT OIL OR FLUID , MOST MANUALS USE 85 - 90 WEIGHT , CHECK YOUR SPECKS FOR SURE .
