Q: Can I put a nice deck in my 1998 Honda Civic?
Hello, this is my first question so sorry if I look like the new guy haha. I recently got a 1998 Honda Civic EX Coupe, I was wondering if I could put a nice new deck in because I have a 6 CD changer in the back and no CD player in the front. Would that affect anything? Thank you!

A: Who still uses CD players? If your stereo has a auxiliary connection, just buy an MP3 player or an ipod, transfer all of your CD music over to it and listen to it. That way you don't have 10,000 cd's and cases all over your car. If you have to put a new deck in, don't worry about it being 6 disc. They are way more expensive and not worth it in 2010. Spend the extra money on an i-pod, Zune or Sansa.

Q: How much is it to put in an original 1998 Honda Civic steering wheel?
I am looking at buying a car. The only problem is, it has an aftermarket racing steering wheel. I would like to replace it with an original honda civic one and was wondering how much this costs?

A: the wheel is the cheap part - maybe $20-50 used on the web. The AIRBAG is going to run you $100+. I would NOT buy the car unless it came with the unused airbag and, in some states, it may be REQUIRED to be reinstalled prior to selling the car.

Q: What are the chances of me finding a 1998 Honda Civic for parts in a salvage yard?
St. Louis Missouri, I need to replace a few parts in the front.

A: 30%

Q: What company makes reliable headlights and tailights for a 1998 Honda Civic Hatchback DX?
what company makes headlights and taillights that are worth investing in and where can i find them?

A: All aftermarket headlights and taillights are ugly. Just stick to the stock tail lights that you have right now or get the 99-00 civic hatchback tail lights because the white and red looks better than the yellow and red. For headlights get some Japanese Domestic Marked (JDM) 99-00 Civic Type-R headlights.

Q: Why would there be oil on the engine of my 1998 honda civic?
My car has been giving off an intense smell, an exhaust smell. I checked the oil and my dipstick was hard to remove and hard to put back in. When I checked it this morning to add some oil there was oil (or what appeared to be oil) all over the engine and other parts under the hood. What could this fluid be and how much should it cost to fix? Thank you! There is oil leaking from the bottom of the car. The dip stick appears to be broken as it won't come out and it shifts around when you try to remove the stick. Any idea how much this will cost to fix?

A: was it fresh oil?? cas if so its a new leak...if its just a build-up of oil oil.....not worth fixing......but start with pcv valve...and maybe valve cover gasket...if u havent changed the pcv valve in a wile its probably stopped up and so crank pressure si pushing oil out of any weak spot in any gasket in ur motor....they part is only 3-4 bucks and needs to b replaced every couple years anc checked once a a year

Q: what HID kit brand is most effective for a 1998 honda civic?
I have a honda ciivic that I want to upgrade to HID lighting, im just not sure what is a good brand that is not overpriced but will still do the job.

A: Well i bought the cheap H.I.D's from ebay and the problem with them is there not really reliable. For Example sometimes when i turned the H.I.D's on they flickered and shut off. Then i bought the ignited H.I.D's, they were featured in import tuner magizine so i knew they had to be good. These were reliable. I could turn them on and off with out them fickering out. For bightness i'd say there both the same brightness.

A: Yes you can , but you would need to make sure that the bumper for the 99 is from the same model as yours , in foreign cars some change either at the bumper and lights or just the lights .GOOD Luck

Q: how hard is it to replace air conditioning belt on 1998 honda civic?
I see alot of belts under the hood and im hesitating on replacing the air conditioning belt for that reason.. Can someone give me some tips?

A: If you know what you are doing, it is simple. There are three belts under there. One runs the alternator, one the AC compressor and another the power steering pump. If I recall correctly, the PS pump goes on first, then the alternator, and the AC is the outside belt. There are adjusters for the AC belt and ALT belt that have a nut in the middle of the pulley that you loosen, then using a wrench release tension on the adjuster, fit the new belt and then tighten the adjuster to tension the belt, then tighten the lock nut. If you do the PS belt, you have to jack up the car and remove the wheel. Simple huh? I would change all three for $50.00 plus the cost of the belts.

Q: Why is my check engine light on in my 1998 Honda Civic LX?
This happened a few weeks ago. My check engine light came on in my Civic and now when I'm at a stop it idles roughly. Kind of the way a car might idle at a stop light when the air conditioner is on. I already tightened my gas cap to see if that was causing it and clearly it is not because it is still on. I heard that it could possibly mean something is wrong with my O2 sensor but I believe that those can be pricey to fix. Is this something that may need immediate attention? I JUST got my car serviced.

A: Could also be your EGR valve. I would suggest going to autozone and having them pull the code. Then, look up the code on the internet to find out what kind of diagnostics you (or your mechanic) would have to do to find the problem, as the OBD II is still not good enough to tell you what's really wrong and only points you in the right direction. If you don't know what you're doing with it, I would suggest taking it to a mechanic to run a diagnostics on it (which can run from $75 and up). It doesn't matter if you just got your car serviced. Things go wrong at a whim, and if it wasn't messing up while the mechanic was working on it, he wouldn't have seen anything wrong with it because there was nothing wrong with it.

Q: what is the best way to check the ignition coil and ignition module on a 1998 honda civic?
the guy at autozone said there was no way and it was a fifty fifty chance. anybody know for sure.

A: The best way i know of would be to call up Honda dealer and get the specs for the primary and secondary on the coil. Test with a volt meeter. I'm not sure about the module, you should look around maybe a friend has the same car and motor, you might want to ask ir you can try theirs out. Good Luck!

Q: how do you change the clock(time) on a 1998 honda civic?
PLEASE HELP. i have a 1998 honda civic 2 door. because of daylights savings time my clock is now an hour different than it should be. i see that there is a clock button but have no clue how to get anywhere after i press the 'clock' button. i have lost my manual and need help?!! please thank you

A: Digital Clock The audio system also displays the time. The ignition switch must be in ACCESSORY (I) or ON (II). To set the time, press the CLOCK button and hold until the hours number starts to blink.. Press the station Preset 5 button to get the numbers to count down, or the Preset 6 button to get the hours to count up. Press the CLOCK button again, and the minutes numbers will begin blinking. Use the Preset 5 or Preset 6 button to change the minutes to the correct value. After you have set the clock, press the CLOCK button again to return to the normal display. If you do not, the system will automatically return to the normal display about seven seconds after you stop pressing the Preset buttons

Q: Do honda civic 2002 have same bolt pattern as 1998 honda civic?
Do honda civic 2002 have same bolt pattern as 1998 honda civic?

A: It depends on the model. For example, the EP3 (Type R/Si) has a 5x114 stud pattern. Most others are 4x100 though. If the wheels have 4 stud holes then it'll be 4x100.
