Q: how to replace the mirror of my honda civic lx 1999?
Hi I bought a replacement for my driver side mirror of my 1999 honda civic Lx(4 doord). Does anyone have a clear step-by-step instructions on how to take off the broken one and install the new one. This is the driver side mirror and it is manual. Thanks

A: id ont have step by step instructions. but im sure i noe how todo it.. on the inside of teh door. there is a plastic pannel covering where the mirror is. remove it with a spatula, or a body pannel tool. anything that is thin and flat that u can used to pry...... once that is off. there should be 3 or four screws . remove em. and vuala. the mirror is off the door. reinstall in reverse order..... i think thats how it is. thats how ive seen it dun on other cars........ u can go to ur local auto zone / discount auto / advance auto parts, and get a "hanes manual for ur car " that manual will tell u everything u need to do to tear ur car appart and put it back together....... ~chino

Q: how can I chnage my honda civic 1999 altarnator belt?
My 1999 honda civi's alternator belt make alot of noise. especially in the morning , when the engine is not warmedup. I got the new alternator belt. what should I know to change it. Is it difficult?

A: Yes, it's a fair amount of work, especially for a novice, but it is doable. To change the belt, you likely will have to remove the A/C belt and possibly the power steering belt too. If you are to try this, you need to secure a service manual. The Haynes manuals are pretty good and would cover this sort of service well. You will need a good set of metric wrenches and a set of 1/4 drive and 3/8 drive metric sockets. I recommend you replace all 3 belts as the work to do so is more or less the same as the work to do one. be sure you reset the belt tension after the car's been run for an hour or so. Your belts and hoses are old enough that they should all be replaced. I'd also caution you to check on the timing belt's Replacement history. If your timing belt is original, you must replace this too. It is/was due at 100,000 miles. Replacing a timing belt is a difficult and detailed job. I would not advise doing this yourself. Failure to replace the timing belt can result in the destruction of your engine. Astrobuf

Q: How can i fix my suspension on my 1999 honda civic?
What can i do to improve the suspension on my civic? i feel every bump and pot hole. I want a ride that absorbs all the imperfections of the road or i don't know? -- the suspension is still all stock.

A: if the suspension is all stock,it could be your tire/rim set-up.does your car have stock or aftermarket tires/rims on it?if they are aftermarket chances are its the tires/rim set-up.aftermarket tires and rims are designed to perform not give you a good ride.if its not that check your tire pressure.sometimes over inflated tires will give you a rough ride.

Q: 1999 Honda civic ex, p0505 error, how can I do the vacuum check?
recently replaced my engine and intake manifold for 1999 honda civic ex and now I got the P0505 error which can be for vaccume leak. so, how can I do the vacuume leak test ? I have no air diagram. please let me know

A: I recieved the same error code and this is what happened. When I change my oil, I usually take off the oil filter from the top. When I did this, I accidentaly knocked one of the hoses that goes to the cruise control. This made the check engine light come on..... After some quick looking, I saw that the hose had become disconnected and when plugged back in and reset, the check engine light turned off, stayed off, and the rpm quit bogging up and down An easy way to see if this is the case for you is..... does your cruise control work correctly. This might be helpful for some and useless for others, just thought I'd let people know how my problem was fixed.

Q: Is it bad to drive a 1999 Honda Civic with 83,000 miles and the Service Engine light on?
I plan on taking it into a shop next week, but want to drive it this weekend. I've already tightened the gas cap; the light is still on. The car drives fine. I haven't noticed any abnormal sounds or performance, like the engine idling too fast or too slow.

A: If nothing major is going on with the car, it will not hurt it to drive with the light on. As for the answer suggesting using gas additives, do not waste your money. They do not work.

Q: Rebuilding a 1999 Honda civic si Engine questions!?
Hi, does anyone know the approximate cost of rebuilding the 1999 Honda civic si engine? and can it be rebuilt by just taking it to the honda dealership? and if i rebuild it well it mean the engine is like new? so it would be like it has 0 miles on it? Just wondering because i don't really know much about cars? any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in Advance!

A: Don't bother rebuilding! The cost of the parts themselves can be $500+, labor another $500-1000 and you still have to worry about the build quality. Most Honda dealers have contracted companies that do this heavy work - they would simple pull the engine, send it over to the contract shop, reinstall it, mark up the cost and return it. BEST BET: find a low mileage JDM importer - the specialize in bringing under 40k mile factory engines from Japan to the US. The Japanese are even more materialistic and buying new cars all the time - result, a glut of low mile, 7-15 year old cars still in good shape. A motor like your would only be about $600-900 for a FACTORY BUILT engine. Then swap it yourself or find a shop. Should only be $300-500 in labor but you may want to take the opportunity to look at other repairs like CV joints, new hoses, feul filter, etc.

Q: Does anybody out there know where i can find a 1999 Honda civic?
well not just an ordinary honda civic but a honda civic ferio vi-rs all answers appreciated.

A: Look under Yahoo! Autos. They have an awesome listing there. Maybe if you provide us with your location we can help you further. Edit: Yahoo! Autos was no good. I've researched and I found a few sites: http://www.modifiedcartrader.com/findVehicle/ListingDetail.asp?DirectID=3161&txt=1999_Honda_Civic_Civic%20Ferio%20Vi-RS_FOR_SALE http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2385545

Q: Is a 1999 honda civic SI quick little car?
Would i notice a huge difference between a 99 eclipse ''GS'' and a 99 honda civic si?

A: Hands Down. YES. Your eclipse has torque but you haven't experienced the awesome power of the VTEC. Its like a f***in roller coaster ride bro. Test drive the car, find an open strip and floor it. Open it up and after you hit the 3100 rpm mark your tach will jump. its awesome. VTEC = Variable valve Timing and Electronic lift Control. Changes your camshaft profile entirely to open your valves for longer and raises them higher, optimizing them for the higher rpms producing awesomeness. the Si's engine is a sought after engine for honda enthusiasts and so is that car. BUY IT, i guarantee you'll like it.

Q: Acceleration and Transmission 1999 Honda Civic EX?
If I am accelerating pretty rapidly in a Honda Civic EX 1999 up to 5000 or 6000 RPMs I'm guessing this is bad for the transmission? Will my transmission give out sooner? Suggestions...The thing revs high easily but I can stop accelerating as much

A: rpm will not affect the transmission.. but loading and shift reductions will harm it going from drive to low at 60 mph.. the rpm is a blessing... this means the engine is balanced and will give you long life... just remember to change the oil at 3k intervills ok.

Q: How do i chang the shift boot and knob on a 1999 Honda Civic Si. please be very specific.?
i just ordered and recieved a new shift boot and knob for my 99 civic si and want to change it but not to sure how. so please help me and me as exact and specific as possible. thanks.

A: dont waste any money on a manual... boots and knobs are simple, just take out the center console unless the piece with the boot on it is seperate, then swap the boot and put it all back together!! It's simple, just tinker with stuff if you cant do it at first, you'll figure it out.

Q: How do I take off the civic sign on the back of a 1999 honda civic?
Is there a clean way i could take off this sign?

A: There really is no "clean" way to remove the emblems from your car. In order to remove the Civic emblem use a flat putty knife and gently slip it in between the emblem and the adhesive. (Not the paint!) Work the putty knife around the emblem until the emblem is free. Now to remove the double sitck tape you have several options. The easiest is to use 3-M's General adhesive remover and cleaner. This can be purchased at most auto parts stores or at at an automotive paint store. Saturate the old double stick tape with the solvent. Allow 3-5 minutes for the solvent to penetrate and the using a plastic scraper or other similar non-marring object carefully remove the adhesive. Repeat, repeat and repeat. Don't be surprised if the paint that was under the adhesive is not the same as the paint around it, as it has not been exposed to the sun. One word of caution the H emblem on the center of the decklid is held on with not only double stick tape but also a tension fitting. If you remove it you will be left with two or three little holes in your decklid depending on the model. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
