2003 Honda Civic questions and answers

Take a look at this great lense about the 2003 Honda Civic.

Q: What are the original tires on a 2003 Honda Civic?
My newly bought used civic is almost at 90k miles. Over the weekend the mechanic said something like the tires were probably the original ones that came with the car. Seems like a really long time for tires to last. Anybody know what tires come with the 2003 civic? I think mine are Goodyear Integrity or something like that.

A: The OEM tires are Bridgestone Turanzas.

Q: 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid Air Conditioning Sweak?
I have a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid with a strange intermitten sweak that comes up only when the air conditioning is on. It's hard to describe the sound, but it's closely related to a sound that lasts about 1-2 seconds, is somewhat loud, and starts off at lower note and then goes higher. It can also happen when we turn the off and it's sitting for a few seconds. Everything works great though, just been bugging me lately since it's the summer and the air conditioning is on a lot.

A: normal noise on an older car

Q: On my 2003 Honda Civic, my front passenger side tire is wearing much more than the other tires. WTF?
All the tires are new and were replaced at the same time about 2 months ago yet the front passenger side tire already has some bald spots in the middle. What does this mean?

A: good answer, mitchell

Q: Looking to buy a 2003 Honda Civic: Opinions?
I'm looking to buy a standard transmission 2003 Honda Civic 4D LX or EX. If you have one, or one similar, do you like it?

A: I have two 2003 model civics; both sedans, one EX one LX. I bought them for my kids when they were in college. I tell people I didn't buy them new cars, I bought myself piece of mind. They are extremely reliable and will last forever as long as you follow the care and feeding instructions in the owner's manual. both of the 2003's are sedans. There is a noticable difference in power between the EX with the VTEC and the LX wth the standard engine. If you're interested in power and acceleration, go for the EX. the EX also has keyless entry and a sunroof standard which the LX does not. If you're just going around town and want a little better fuel economy get the LX. My kids liked them so much that I got a 2005 coupe for my wife as well. They're simply great cars. hope the helps

Q: Honda Fit Rims on a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid?
I was wondering if the Honda Fit 16" HFP rims (55mm offset, the wheel is 16x6.5) will fit on a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid (38mm offset), I know they both have the same 4*100 bolt pattern, but i'm not sure if the offsets will pose a problem? Thanks in advance.

A: they will fit. the hfp rims have a higher offset, so there for more room for the suspension components to not rub or cause any problems.

Q: Why does the airbag light stay on longer than my other lights on my 2003 Honda Civic?
All the lights use to go off at the same time except for the put ur seat belt on light. Now my airbag SRS Indicator light stays on about five seconds longer and then turns off. I've had this car for three years now and this is the first I've noticed this. Is this a problem? Is this an expensive problem? Help!!! Thanks!

A: As long as the light goes out, it is not a problem.

Q: How do you remove a door lock cylinder off a 2003 honda civic?
my driver seat lock is stuck and i would to get at it and fix it insted of paying $100+ to fix it

A: you need a new cylinder. it will also need to be keyed. to remove the cylinder, pull the door panel off, unhook the lock rod from the cylinder arm, and pull the clip that holds the cylinder in. it will now come out towards the inside of the door.

Q: 2003 honda civic body kit and paint job?
I have a tan 2003 honda civic i want to paint it black and get a body kit. should i get the body kit before or after i paint it?

A: get it before the paint so they can paint it at once so the color will match.

Q: 2003 Honda civic whistles when i am stopped?
i have a 2003 honda civic ex. sometimes when i am stopped like at a light or something it will mak a whistling noise. what could this be? also, is this something that i shuld get fixed right away? is it unsafe to drive? will it cause further damage to my vehicle?

A: you need to have it checked for a vacuum leak ,that will cause it to so this ,when setting at an idle,it probably has a hose loose or off of it ,and that's usually what causes this.you might even be able to raise he hood, and see it your self, good luck with it hope this helps.

Q: Does my 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid have an Oil Change Indicator?
I need to know so i can see when i should change my oil. I want to know if its the ones that dealer resets or if it real and telling me my real oil life? Thanks I know that some newer models actually have sensors that can come on at certain oil life. But i want to know if mine is just the can that goes off automatically or if it senses it for real?

A: The maitenance required light illuminates after 5000 miles. You use the trip meter knob to reset it and so does your dealer. If you do 3-4k mile oil changes you'd never see it.

Q: How do I operate the in dash cd changer in my 2003 Honda Civic?

A: press the load button and the number location lets say you want to put a disc in press the load button and the number 4 when the light flashes on the cd slot put the cd in now you have one on the location 4 you need to press the load and location number for every cd to eject you press the eject and the disc number you want to eject only use new cd's,store cd never put in a cd with a paper label if is made on the computer write the name with ink DON'T PUT A PAPER LABEL

Q: 2003 Honda Civic rubber strip under bumper came loose, what to do?
I've tried reattaching it but it keeps coming undone. If I just remove it, will this adversely affect the car? Should I take it to a Honda dealership to fix? It'd been dragging a coupe weeks now.

A: Take it off and leave it off. The only thing that attaches that piece of crap to the bumper is 2 plastic clips on the edge of the bumper. The rest of it just gets pushed in the gap. Just take it off. Those things come off all the time and it will not affect the car in any way. If you want another one, you do not have to go to the dealer. Take it to a body shop as they are more familiar with this type of repair than a mechanic.

Q: 2003 Honda Civic Transmission Problems?
I have a 2003 Honda Civic with 80,400 miles on it. I just had to replace the transmission. This weekend I was driving and my check engine light went on, the car wouldn't shift into third gear, it hesitated when I put it in reverse and it smelled like buring oil. Did the mechanics forget to attach something? Will I need to get another transmission, or is something else wrong? Thanks.

A: Is it an automatic? If so it might be a torque converter issue. Was the torque converter replaced along with the transmission. I would look into that. Best of luck!

Q: 2003 Honda Civic & Mazda Miata, Do The Wheels Interchange?
I'm looking to get a 2003 honda civic, I already have a 1990 mazda miata, how do I find out if the wheels will interchange? I've got Katana racing concept 7's on the miata and want to throw those on the civic if at all possible. Any tips hint or answers?

A: You look up the bolt pattern of both vehicles on google. If they're the same, they might work. Or...since you have the wheels in hand, you test fit them on the Civic.
