2004 Honda Accord
2004 Honda Accord questions and answers
Take a look at this great lense about the 2004 Honda Accord.
Q: Can I use mobile 1 synthetic automatic transmission fluid for my 2004 honda accord?
Honda recommends only ATF -Z1. I like to know if Mobile 1 is compitable.
A: Stay with the honda fluid it has the proper friction modifiers.
Q: My 2004 Honda accord engine is really shaky when the car is not moving, what can I do to fix this problem?
When I first start the car or when I'm on a red light the engine feels shaky, not smooth like it should, I was thinking that may be I should change the engine mounts, or do a tune up, what do you think?
A: I would start with the tune up. Not only is it less expensive, it is most likely the problem.
cheers.
Q: Can I connect an MP3 player to my 2004 Honda Accord?
I have an "AUX" button on the stereo, (which is actually labelled "CD/AUX" which activates the CD player).
Does that mean an MP3 player could be attached, as well? If so, how would I go about doing it?
Many thanks in advance.
A: honda actually makes a connection kit for an ipod that is fairly easy to install. but it doesn't work for any other mp3 players currently on the market.
you can also use an fm reciever for your ipod or most other mp3 players. i found that this was better than the actual ipod kit from honda.
the kit from honda really limits your ipod and actually disab;es the screen so that you cannot see what is playing, so if you don't have your playlists memorized its really difficult to find that one song you really want to hear.
Q: 2004 Honda Accord Power Door Not Working?
My 2004 Honda Accord power door lock suddenly not working from both the remove and lock switch. It works fine unlocking but not locking. When try to use the key to lock it, it only locks a door, the other 3 doors are in unlock position. If I manually pushed down the lock buttons on all doors, and pressed the lock switch or remote lock button, I can hear the click of lock. Can you please help to diagnose the problem and fix it without going to a dealer shop?
Thank you!
A: If the unlocked doors lock with the remote control then the problem is not with the remote nor with the power to the door lock actuators. I'm going to guess from your description that you only have the problem with the driver's door lock and that the other doors are locking and unlocking with the remote.
if only the driver's door won't lock then the problem is with the door lock actuator inside the driver's door. The door lock actuator is basically an electromagnet that pulls the lock into position when either the switch or the keyless remote signals 'lock' and it pushes the lock into the open position when an 'unlock' signal is received. if it works in one direction but not the other then the problem is with a short in the door lock actuator inside the door that causes it to work in one direction only.
as for the key unlocking or locking all doors you need to turn the key twice to open all locks or to lock all locks with the key. Again, if the actuator inside the door is shorted it will only work in one direction.
my experience is that the actuator will run about $150 to replace regardless if you take it to the dealer or to another mechanic. the part is only available at the dealer. its not something most people will try at home because you have to take the door panel off to get to the actuator.
hope that helps
Q: How many gallons of gas does a 2004 Honda accord sedan hold?
A: All 2003-2007 Accords have a 17.1 gallon fuel tank.
Q: How much should fixing a hood, bumper, headlight, radiator, and AC cost on a 2004 Honda Accord?
Also needed to be fixed were a bumper bracket and straightening the front frame rail.
A: Big bucks
I have a 2005 Accord. I just had my front bumper replaced (with a new bumper), and it cost me 800.
The hood will probably cost you 1500
The headlight 200
The radiator 400
The AC 800
Another 200 for the bumper bracket and frame rail
Im guessing almost 4K
Q: Why does water accumulate in the back seat (drivers side) of my 2004 Honda Accord?
This is not a door problem -- the water accumulates in the middle of the back floor, not anywhere near the door. There is no sign of a leak, but an unholy amount of water builds up. I've checked the door drains, the AC condensation drains. The dealer is stumped.
A: If it's not the condensor drain or the door seals, might be a body seal. I'd spend some time troubleshooting it yourself with a hose because the dealer probably isn't going to find it for you.
I found a post online where another 2004 Accord owner had water leaking in from where the ABS line from the rear wheel enters into the car.
On CarComplaints.com someone reported the exact same problem with a 1998 Honda Prelude (link below), but that's all we have for Hondas with that problem.. lots of Fords & Chevys have that.
Q: My passenger side mirror glass is broken. Where can I find the glass for 2004 Honda Accord?
I would like to replace just the glass and not the whole mirror?
I went to a local dealer and bought the glass for $19.22 (including taxes) and put it myself.
A: The Honda dealer may carry just the glass, check with the parts department.
Q: 2004 honda accord light on radio face does not come on.?
2004 honda accord light on radio face does not come on.
A: Wrong, I have fixed this problem as I am a Honda Dealership Tech. The radio requires a new circuit board to be installed at the dealership. The circuit board fails and either causes the face to be dim or not there. I am 100% this is the problem as we probably have done about 6 this month.
Q: how do you disengage alarm system in 2004 Honda accord?
just brought a used 04..and the alarm seems to go off at odd times.thanks
A: if you don't have a remote for it,you can turn it off by using the key to lock and unlock the doors with,if you shut the door, with the button down the alarm should set its self, you can then unlock the door and it should turn it off, that's the way my neighbors works, because there's goes off all the time, and i had to show them how to do it,it only works on the drivers door though, good luck with it.
Q: How to you change the headlight bulb in 2004 honda accord?
A: From the factory service manual:
1. For low or high beam headlight bulb, remove the inner fender panel, it is right behind the headlight. (a little plastic panel)
2. Disconnect the 2 Prong connectors from the headlight.
3. Turn the bulb socket 45 °counterclockwise to remove the bulb.
4. Install a new bulb in the reverse order of removal.
About $10.00 bucks for the bulb and 24 minutes ($36.00) labor at a shop.
Q: Where is an 02 sensor located on my 2004 honda accord?
I need to replace it just dont know whre it is and took it to a mech. but he was going to charge me to show me. Please help me!
A: There will be two oxygen sensors in your exhaust system, one before the catalytic converter and one after the converter. These sensors will be the only thing attached to your exhaust with electrical wires attached to them, so they should be fairly easy to locate. You will often have to use a special socket to remove them without damaging the wires, and don't forget the special grease on the threads when installing the new sensors.
